Mea Culpa
By: Shazback |Mea maxima culpa. I’ll confess I have been a very, very bad blogger. But I’m going to make amends. The strikes in France kept me away from my PC for two weeks, but now, I’m back to blog like my life depends on it.
Cyril Jeunechamp has legged it off to Nice.
Bordeaux remember that they’re […]
Blast from the (recent) past : PSG
By: Shazback |6th of October 2007 : Rennes travel to the Parc des Princes to take on a PSG side that had yet to win at home. After a searing 2-0 home loss against Sochaux (19th) at Rennes, it was anyone’s bet what the score could be.
Rennes’ good news was the return of Jérôme Leroy in midfield, […]
Transfer targets.
By: Shazback |In the wake of a 1-0 defeat I couldn’t follow (yay), I think it is my duty to notify Rennes fans of a few possible transfer targets.
Etto, Gerard and Diego could join Rennes…
Their whole team is counterfeit
By: Shazback |You’d think the Swiss would be careful to check they buy the real thing. I mean, they’ve got all those watches, all those luxury items, all that chocolate… And doubtless counterfeit objects are a problem for the Swiss economy. So how come Basel have 9 counterfeit players in their squad then? And quite poor counterfeit […]
Swiss love story
By: Shazback |When people think of Rennes, they think of Sweden. Källström, Isaksson, Hansson and Edman are all swedish internationals that played for Rennes over the past 3 seasons. Rennes were also in the bidding for Wilhelmson (who went to Nantes, Roma and then Bolton in the space of 14 months), Jönsson (who joined Toulouse) and Elmander […]
Good things come in threes.
By: Shazback |Rennes are 3rd in Ligue 1. A 3-0 win over Le Mans means that Rennes is only 4 points behind Lyon, and 1 behind Nancy, who have two games in hand.
Le Mans’ emblem looks like something out of a video game.
Before the game, Rennes were 5th with 18 points, behind Bordeaux only on goals […]
We lose, we win.
By: Shazback |Let’s be honest : France are the 4th in the UEFA Coefficients, and therefore get 3 Champions League places, 3 UEFA Cup places and 1 Intertoto Cup place. Lens won their Intertoto Cup, and qualified for the UEFA Cup. Toulouse got smashed by Liverpool in the Champions League qualifying round, and qualified for the UEFA Cup. That’s 5 teams from Ligue 1 in the UEFA Cup. Only 3 got past the 1st round. Disappointing…
We’re underdog favourites.
By: Shazback |Well, I was wrong. Terribly wrong. The 3-0 win I thought could happen turned into a 2-0 defeat. Sochaux changed from a side that was unable to make two good passes in a row against Panionios into a team that set up good offensive moves. Rennes‘ solid midfield turned into a lacklustre show of tired […]
They won something?
By: Shazback |If you were to have missed Ligue 1 last season, you’d think I was pulling your leg if I told you that Sochaux won the most prestigious of all French football Cups last year. Ten games, 6 defeats, no wins and 4 draws. Even Panionios won in Sochaux to get Perrin’s ex-team on it’s way […]
They haven’t even got their own stadium
By: Shazback |No wonder we won then…
I’ll stop the joking. Rennes‘ trip to Sofia in Bulgaria had everything to be a trick game : Rennes were favorites, on a good winning streak, and without any niggling injuries; Sofia were the underdogs, only 3rd of their domestic division, without any ’stars’, but were playing at home, and were […]
